Two Large Binders plus Folder. The Oregon Home Economics Association, a state branch of the American Home Economics Association, was expanding during the late 1960's. The name may conjure up classes in high school of sewing and cooking, but this very professionally run organization focused on consumer education - including research into specifications for consumer goods and more descriptive labeling on textiles, avocation for the National School Lunch Act, conducted food studies - leading to policy changes such as enriching flour, performing the first extensive study of body measurements - thus standardizing sizes of garments and patterns, introduced financial planning to women and their dependents, assisted in establishing home economics in college and university programs, and helped protect families in times of war, depression, emergency feeding, and other disasters. One of these binders contain detailed correspondence between the (1969) upcoming convention's 1st Vice President, Ermine Fisher and all the various committees in charge of every aspect of the convention. The other binder, belonging to (Miss) Tod Hamilton, General Convention Chairman, includes corresponding paper work, with the central focus point being the theme of the convention - "Focus on the Consumer". As those of us who were born before a "certain" age, before computers came into our lives, many letters, notes, and various paper materials were mailed back and forth to assist in the working order of a large organization. These letters, notes, and pamphlets fill in the void and tell a story of an incredibly well ordered association that regarded their mission as a vital part of the surrounding community. Large (29 x 27 x 7) blue cloth covered binder. Very good. N° de ref. del artículo 4086
