Volume 3 about fine in quarter leather over burgundy cloth covered boards, one small scratch to leather. Illustrations, facsimiles, portraits. Ownership signature on first blank of Volume II of Richard Ames, who became Secretary of Harvard Law School in 1909. Richard was the son of James Barr Ames (1846-1910), who was the second Dean of Harvard Law School . In the first volume, Warren presents a thorough examination of the study of law, lawyers, and legal practice in America from 1640 to 1817. The second volume is a comprehensive history of the Harvard Law School from the year it was founded 1817 through 1908.
