In the original publishers' orange, black printed, paper covered light card covers. The spine is splitting on the front edge only but is holding firm and the paper of the spine has largely perished/has paper loss from many areas of the spine but amazingly all the titling on the paper Title is largely extant! . The Title and Publisher printed in black within a slim decorative border on the front cover. The covers are Lightly rubbed/creased/wrinkled/marked/bubbled but all present and complete and a good bright orange! Overall a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy if a little worn due to age/storeage. The cover paper is shiny and almost has a light 'oilcloth' feel. NO Date given and the Publishers (Mason) are difficult to tie down chronologically, but all the other copies of Tenby guides published by this Mason (Richard Mason of Tenby -1817 to 1881 ) I can find have slightly different TITLES and a much larger Content - this small guide refers to the 'Town' in the title, and later guides don't, and is only 36 pages long plus the 5 plates which are not paginated. Pale yellow endpapers. A large b/w vignette engraving of 'Tenby from Windmill Fields' by Newman & Co, 48 Watling Street, London, forms the Frontispiece. A second full page steel large vignette engraving again by Newman - 'Tenby from Castle Hill' is opposite page 7, another of 'Tenby from St. Catherines Rock' is opposite page 13,(with a single small old worm run at the top of the blank margin to the left corner - negligible). There are 2 further full page b/w wood engravings attributed to one 'Geo. Measom' depicting first 'Tower, Tenby Castle' and then 'Scotsbro' House'. No Inscriptions or Marks. I can only make an informed guess at the date, taking the Newman engravings and the length of the guide into account, and would put it at anything between 1848 and 1860 at the latest - and it surely has to be one of the earlier Tenby Guides issued by R. Mason, if not perhaps the First ? ? ? . I would be pleased to hear from anyone who could help further with this Edition? It has to be pretty scarce. Images available on Request. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall.
