Sinopsis: Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Maybeth Judd and her family were pursued by the Japanese Imperial Army as it advanced across China. Threatened by bandits, starvation, capture, and even death, they contended with fear and weariness as they covered hundreds of miles on bicycles, rickshaw, and on foot.
About the Author: Born in Shanghai, China, the child of third generation missionaries, Esther and her family were driven out of China in 1950 and spent several years on a farm in Canada before moving to the United States in 1957. As a teenager she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She attended Geneva College in western Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.A. in English in 1968. Following graduation she married and began a teaching career that spanned thirty years. A love of adventure sent Esther and her husband, Alex, to Wyoming in 1970 where they settled and raised a family. They quickly grew to love the wide open spaces and take yearly horse pack trips to the mountains and wilderness areas of Wyoming.
