Limited edition of 350 copies, this being No. 289. The second volume in a two-part work. Small 4to, xvi + 536pp. Copiously illustrated, with plates, figures, portraits, and facsimiles of important documents and title-pages. Hardcover, bound in original red cloth with gilt lettering to spine and large gilt-tooled device to upper board. Gilt top edges, others untrimmed. Decorative black & gold patterned endpapers. In good plus condition. Hinges are broken, but the text-block remains securely bound. Pages are generally clean, with occasional, isolated light pencil scoring. Scattered foxing throughout as well as a few darker spots left by old page markers left in the book. Contemporary ownership signatures lightly scripted in pencil on fly-leaf. Some general wear to extremities, sunning to spine leaving the gilt title a bit dulled, but still legible. Gilt on the front cover remains sharp and bright. Still a decent copy of a rather scarce book. N° de ref. de la librería 004828
