Volume two is titled "George Washington in the American Revolution (1775-1783)," volume three "George Washington and the New Nation (1783-1793)" and volume four "George Washington: Anguish and Farewell (1793-1799)." A handsome 3-out-of-4 grouping of the best-known work of this noted historian (1908-2003), the final volume of which earned him both a National Book Award and a special Pulitzer citation.
