"The broadest range of Churchill's thoughts between hard covers, 'Thoughts and Adventures' comprises essays on a vast array of subjects, attesting not only to the breadth of the author's comprehension but of his personal experience. Not yet sixty when it was published, Churchill had already seen enough of the world from high office to fill several political careers; he had read widely, his photographic memory recording it all for reference; he had lived through what was then thought to be the greatest convulsion in history, the 'War to End Wars'. Here he provides a charming and attractive sampler". (Richard Langworth: A Connoisseur's Guide to the Books of Sir Winston Churchill). Text in German. Nº de ref. de la librería NT002264
Descripción Amstutz, Herdeg & Co., 1945. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. A fine copy, in a very good dust jacket, of the first German edition, third printing. The navy cloth binding is clean and unworn, with strong gilt lettering and decoration to the spine and front face. Everything is square and tight, with sharp unbumped edges and corners. Inside the contents are immaculate, with no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The dust jacket is unclipped (no flap price), and otherwise fully intact. There is some wear and wrinkling to the top of the spine and, as is usual for this edition, the red colour of the front face has faded to pale orange on the spine. 'Thoughts and Adventures' is a series of essays on various topics which Churchill published in several magazines in the 30's. The topics and the quality may be varied, but the essential Churchill invariably shines through. A very entertaining read. Text in German. Nº de ref. de la librería NT001737
