CONDITION : All in Very Good or better condition with the minor qualifications of a cracked hinge on first hrdcover volume. Bound in two hardcover volumes plus 4 individual issues unbound. Includes illustrations from photographs. SUBJECTS/CONTENTS: A monthly periodical in Icelandic, published in Winnipeg and Gimli from 1911 to 1914 under the editorship of controversial Icelandic Unitarian minister, Reverend Magnús Skaptason, of Winnipeg. Original and translated articles, biographies, and stories relating both to Icelandic-Canadian subject matter and general topics; much biographical information on Icelandic-Canadian literary and other prominent figures as well as world figures (with illustrations from photos); article on Peace River area of Alberta in one issue; the sereis has articles on the subconscious mind, and a translation into Icelandic of Sheridan's School of Scandal; additional articles on diet and food. Kristhjanson reports (hand written notes) that the publisher was so impoverished during one period during his work with the journal, he was compelled to reduce his food bill to ten cents per day.
