BOUND VOLUME CONTAINING April to June 1931 complete issues, index for Volume III Numbers 1 to 6 bound in at rear, profusely illustrated in color and black and white, color pictorial paper wrappers and advertisements bound in, leather spine and corners with cloth-covered boards (hardbound). Previous owner's name in gilt lettering on front cover, covers rubbed with boards exposed at corners, mended spine; interior very good, covers are tightly cropped (with small abrasions along binding edge of first issue). APRIL issue features striking cover illustration of boxers and their audience by Ernest Hamlin Baker; articles include "The Masters of Light" about Bausch & Lomb, "Colossus of the Caribbean" about Pan-American airline, "The U.S. Organ", "100 Per Cent Safety" about railroad signals, articles on sheep and the wool industry, etc. Color advertisement for golfing at Banff Springs Hotel. MAY issue articles include "The Empire of France" with color and black and white illustrations and 2 page color map by William Longyear: "Colonial Empire of France" showing French and English territories, "Hearst at Home" about the Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Full page color ad for Douglas Amphibion plane, great Chrysler Straight Eight / Imperial Eight ad. Cartography-themed cover illustration by Walter Buehr, showing a globe and maps. June issue articles include "Lloyd's, London", "The Expanding Decade" with section on Pennoyer Locomotives and 4 full page color illustrations of trains, "Genus Simplissimum: The Trout Fisherman" with color illustrations of dry and wet flies, "Niagara Hudson: Exhibit A Of Superpower" with full page color map "Power in the East" and half page black and white pictorial map, an article about Nebraska, etc. Cover illustration of a bull by Fred Ludekens.
