Descripción:

The author was an observer and later pilot in the RFC in WWI and tells here his interesting story of those dangerous days. He joined the RFC in 1915 and in 1917 became a German POW when his aircraft was forced down by a mechanical fault. By the time of his release the British air arm had become the RAF and he remained in the force after the war. Medical problems prevented him from flying again and after a short stint with the army he rejoined the RAF, flying with it and the Fleet Air Arm till 1928. His story ends there, although he then turned to commercial flying. Vivid account of WWI flying and also of the heady days of the RAF post-WWI. 320 pages, frontis photo of author plus six other b/w photos. Light blue hard covers VG with faded spine and titles, slight damage at spine upper extremity, few nicks at base, lower front corner lightly bumped and worn, few marks on rear board, small dealer label lower right front pastedown, text block tight and otherwise excellent, with trace of foxing to photographs. No inscriptions. N° de ref. de la librería
