Sinopsis: "Firemen have always intrigued me - partly because my father was one - but also because I found it interesting that they come from such diverse backgrounds and all seem to enjoy one common theme - they love their job."
- Jeff Nicholson
..And with this in mind, Nicholson takes the reader on a journey with driver Don Goldsmith, firefighters Richard "Shorty" Jones and Doug Renaud and paramedics Red Cavnor and Ben Pierce, as well as police detective Steve Sims as the city of Mt. Pleasant deals with the ever-growing problems related to methamphetamine and the Nazi Labs where it is prepared.
Realistically told, the story is that of the Captain and his crew and their day to day activities at Station #2. The story is interwoven between the present day and the Captain's past and offers a descriptive view of the present day inter workings of a professional Fire Department as compared to older and volunteer departments. The Author intertwines day-to-day matters with existing drug problems facing present day cities. Along the way the reader meets an interesting group of characters. The novel is graphic, humorous and heartbreaking at times, but offers the reader a realistic look at firemen and the day-to-day problems with which they deal.
