Crew of Lambs Conduit Street. Half bound with restoration of the spines and the original spines relaid. Edges and spines slightly scuffed. Corners turned with the upper rear corner of volume one crushed and cracked, along with the lower rear corner of volume two having the board exposed. Marbled boards rubbed and worn to the faces. Gilt to faces of page blocks. Marbled endpapers with repair strips to the hinges, closely resembling the original design. Bindings tight. Two title pages to each volume. 125 of the 126 plates as per the listings in the volumes (including appendix, frontispieces and title vignettes). Lacking the third view of Berwick, being Berwick Lighthouse from the pier. However, a not dissimilar view is used as the vignette for the title of volume two and shows the lighthouse at the entrance to Berwick harbour. Period ownership inscription to the endpapers of each volume along with a later, cruder ownership inscription on different endpapers. Spotting to virtually all the plates, often heavy and sometimes light. Periodic waterstaining to some page margins and plates. Text generally brighter with periodic and generally lighter spotting, but does have some dust-marking and a few general marks. 190 and 155pp. First volume, views by Harding, Cooke, Balmer and Bartlett. Second volume, views by Bartlett. Note: the spine titles state "Finden" rather that "Bartlett/Beattie". Further details and images available on request.
