Acerca de

Review:

Financial Aid for the Disabled and Their Familes is a listing of scholarships, fellowships, loans, grants, awards, and internships designed for use by the thirty-six-million disabled Americans and their families. The volume is divided into several separate sections that list information on programs by specific disability (hearing, visual, etcetera); general disability; state sources; and a general directory with indexes in five areas including geographic, sponsoring organization, and subject. The aid described in this book is aimed at applicants at the highschool through postdoctoral level. In the first section of the directory, each program is profiled with information including its purpose, eligibility requirements, special features, addresses, and telephone numbers. This section provides a wealth of information about programs available to disabled families. The remaining sections provide each state's sources of information on financial aid. All of these citations are well-indexed and cross-referenced for ease of use. The authors also describe directories for financial aid that can be used by nondisabled students seeking information about available options. Disabled families and the professionals who work with them will find this book extremely valuable. A comprehensive list of major funding sources for the disabled-and how to tap them-Financial Aid for the Disabled and Their Families is a must for libraries, educational institutions, and social service organizations. -- From Independent Publisher
