Vol 1 No 4. Each volume is illustrated with b/w photos and has a Woman's Sphere section. Library pocket on the rear flyleaf, some slackening at the hinges. Internally Near Fine. All edges red speckled. Half blue learther, rubbed and worn at the spine and at the corners, cloth boards, rubbed and somewhat faded. Spine title and Vol 1 gilt. Each issue retains its original cover and all advertising. Library reference sticker by the spine foot. The Fertiliser was established as Shirley's house journal. Five thousand (5000) copies of the quarterly magazine were distributed at the outset. Mainly devoted to agricultural topics each issue has a section called Women's Sphere with cooking, handicraft and fashion information, and a children's page.
