Tenth Series , pp 114-128; AND WITH: Mr. Faraday on the general Magnetic Relations and Characters of the Metals , 177-181; (LYELL, Sir Charles.) In addition to a wide view of the current scene in geology, there is an extended notice on Charles Darwin in South America: Few communications have excited more interest in the Society than the letters on South America addressed by Mr, Charles Darwin to Professor Henslow. Mr. Darwin has devoted four years, from 1832 to 1835 inclusive, to the investigation of the natural history and geology of South America. From the position of the tertiary deposits which exist on both sides of the southern Andes, he concludes that the primary chain must have had a great elevation anterior to the tertiary period. --Pg 322; BREWSTER, Sir David. Sir D. Brewster's Observations on the Lines of the Solar Spectrum, and on those produced by the Earth's Atmosphere, and b}' the Action of Nitrous Acid Gas , 384-400; CAUCHY, Augustin. M. Cauchy on a New Formula for solving the Problem of Interpolation in a Manner applicable to Physical Investigations , 459-468; FARADAY, Michael. Mr. Faraday on the History of the Condensation of the Gases, in Reply to Dr. Davy, introduced by some Remarks on that of Electro-magnetic Rotation , pp 521-528.
