Descripción

Yes, this 80 page collection, being an increasingly well respected and energetically applauded offering it is proudly presented with great and well deserved hubris by Hirschfeld Galleries in BOTH the publishers original binding and original dustwrapper. The binding is black cloth spine, glossy green and black boards with a photo of Venus de Milo at front right, light green endpapers. And this gem is rok solid tight and clean, AAA save for very mild corner bumps and very mild toning to endpapers. Jacket is really nice save for the usual moderate edgewear. But not to worry or be sad, for said imperfection is made considerably less objectionable, since, on the very positive side of things, the jacket is now and forevermore protected from any future ambient abuse and resulting degradation by professionally fitted and applied yet instantly removable Brodart mylar. Many photo illustrations. Text in two to three columns. Explains how it started, what makes a statue great as well as the different types of carved and molded art which constitute the field of sculpture. The individual chapters are entitled: Sculpture As An Art, Sculpture in Babylon and Assyria, The Sculpture of Ancient Egypt, The Sculpture of Greece, The Sculpture of the Roman Empire, The Sculpture of the Middle Ages, The Sculpture of the Renaissance, Later European Sculpture, The Sculpture of America, The Futurists, The Sculpture of Ancient America, The Sculpture of the Orient, The Technique of the Master Sculptors. Hirschfeld Galleries' offerings such as this one which take on a life of their own and speak so very loudly for themselves. Read to learn and enjoy; go forth to share and enjoin. Research, analysis, dissertation, lucubrations or just enjoyment, this is the one. ACTUAL BOOK FOR SALE PICTURED. PLEASE DOUBLE CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE.
