History tells us that desperado Jesse James was killed in 1882, and that his equally notorious brother Frank surrendered in 1883. The classic American legend is that neither were apprehended, that they faded into anonymity and died of natural causes. "The legend is true, say the authors of This Was Frank James, and they have spent years of research and have accumulated mountains of documented evidence to support their arguments. This evidence includes Joe Vaughn's own story, as he wrote it shortly before his death in 1925, in which he claimed that he was the real Frank James." More than a fascinating debunking of history, it examines "life amoung the Ozark hillfolk in a bygone era." 180 pp. A little bit of edgewear and scuffing to boards, a tiny dimple to rear board at spine (not a puncture). Light tanning around front DJ panel edges, a few tiny chips to edges, a 2" closed tear to top of front panel, a .5" closed tear to lower part of panel, not on edge. A few creases to front panel near outer edge, light shelfwear to DJ surfaces. Gilt lettering to spine, black cloth-covered boards. Some great old photos. Measures 5.5 x 8.25 inches. Very clean and tight. No markings to text. Photo of authentic Wanted poster on page xiv of introduction! NEAR VERY GOOD in Fair Dustjacket. N° de ref. de la librería 67206
