To which is prefixed A Life of the Author by Andrew Kippis, black & white frontispiece portrait of the author, quite heavily foxed, (ii), cxii, 352pp. Volume II Containing the latter part of the history of our Lord Jesus Christ, as recorded by the four evangelists, disposed in the order of an harmony, (ii), viii, 477pp. Volume III Containing the Acts of the Apostles with additional notes on the harmony of the evangelists and two dissertations - I on Sir Isaac Newton's system of the harmony II on the inspiration of the New Testament; also the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans and his first and second Epistles to the Corinthians, (ii), xvi, 700pp, rear hinge split at pp698/99 but the binding is firm. Volume IV Containing the Epistles of Paul the Apostle to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippans, Colossians, I Thessaloninas, II Thessalonians, I Timothyu, II Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews nd the Epistles of James, I Peter, II Peter, I John, II John, III John, Jude, Revelations, (iv), 766pp. The set is bound in full red leather, uniformly sunned to a brown on the spines, which have raised bands and gilt decoration and lettering, slightly spotted endpapers, bookplate to each pastedown, all edges gilt, one or two pencil annotations in page margins, pages seem free from spotting, The Reverend Philip Doddridge D.D.
