Descripción

No publisher place or date. Presumed from the 1893 edition of the Proceedings of the Colorado Scientific Society, based on OCLC records. Pamphlet, perhaps disbound from a larger work. LACKING front wrap. 19 pp., plus 2 plans/maps of the John Jay Mine. A technical discussion of mineral deposits and geological activity in the John Jay Mine, including mention of gold producing iron ore and a few other brief mentions of gold. With two cross section maps providing a cross section depiction of the mine. The John Jay Mine was established by Archibald Van Deren and Edward Fuller, two prospectors drawn to the area by the finding of telluride gold in the Jamestown area of Colorado. Prospecting west along the James Creek, they eventually established the John Jay on the north side of Bueno Mountain, whereupon a small rush developed, with the settlement coined Providence (see historycolorado website for previous information). GOOD condition, perhaps ex-library, lacking the front wrap. Date stamp and minor numerical figures written on the top of the first page. Evidence of binding tape removal along the spine. Minor toning to the piece. Rear wrap browned, with some chipping along the extremities. N° de ref. de la librería 006857
