Everyman, J.M. Dent And Sons Ltd, 1930 This is a late 15th-century morality play which uses allegorical characters to examine the question of Christian salvation and what Man must do to attain it. The play was written in Middle English during the Tudor period, but the identity of the author is unknown. The book is illustrated throughout with pictures drawn and cut from wood by Thomas Derrick. In very good condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the gilt lettering on the spine bright. There is slight shelf wear to the top and bottom edge of the spine, some marks to the back board and a dent to the top edge of the back board. The slightly toned and foxed end papers and pages are free from marks, tears or inscriptions. The top edge fully retains its original brown tint. There is a mark to the top edge.
