Three fine folding engraved plates of the "Division Astronomique du Globe Terrestre.", ".quelques effects du Soleil & de la Lune.", a double-hemisphere celestial chart, an armillary sphere, and 27 fine folding maps, all with original hand-colour in part and in outline (last map repaired at fold), wood-engraved head-piece. Fine contemporary French mottled calf, the smooth spine decorated with fine gilt tools, all edges gilt (slightly worn with very minor loss at the head of the spine). A FINE AND ATTRACTIVE ATLAS, PUBLISHED JUST ONE YEAR BEFORE THE FIRST RUMBLINGS OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. Primarily for use in schools, and with lengthy geographical and historical descriptions to accompany each map.
