Five volumes, published 1795-1800. Quarto (28 x 23cm). The first four volumes dated 1795 & 1796, plus the fifth supplemental volume from 1800. 'Lysons attempted to make good the neglect with which local historians have passed by the counties adjacent to London. He is local to the extreme yet most entertaining and useful.'- Cox. Complete with five engraved titles, each with a vignette & 80 plates, maps and plans, some of which folding, plus two folding pedigrees. Some minor outer marginal worming to last few index leaves of Vol. II, some occasional light foxing, but otherwise a clean & fresh set bound in contemporary full calf, the spines in six panels with contrasting twin labels, gilt, with some light scuffs, the leading joint on Vol. IV lightly cracked, but quite sound, the whole an attractive fresh set with the contemporary engraved bookplates of Lady Evelyn.
