IMPORTANT PIECE OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN POP CULTURE, IN COLLECTIBLE CONDITION, DESPITE FAULTS. Orange paper-over-boards, black cloth spine, white title label (fr. board), decorative orange d.j. 45 pp., double-page map. Cheaply-made d.j. shows some wear, rumpling, few short tears, two longish, closed tears & missing 3.5" chunk of spine panel at bottom; prior owner's ink signature to f.fe.p. (Julian V. Cooke); edges, e.p's., interior show a bit of foxing; half-title (slightly loosened) shows short tear at gutter; still well-preserved in a damaged jacket. SCARCE CANADIAN EDITION OF THIS EXPLOITIVE, SICKENINGLY PSEUDO-INSPIRATIONAL TALE, IN THE FORM OF LETTERS (to "de ol' massa"), OF A FAITHFUL SOUTHERN SLAVE WHO GOT LOST WITH HIS MULE & SPENT THE ENTIRE 'RESTORATION PERIOD' TRYING TO FIND THE WAY HOME TO HIS BELOVED MASTER. The Canadian edition appeared 17 years after the original U.S. edition. Only a very few jacketed copies exist in fine condition. . As always, the prominent use of "slave patois" doggerel is frightful. Size: 12mo. N° de ref. de la librería 000451
