Synopsis: Truett Cathy's commitment reaches far beyond the people who work and eat in his restaurants. Through WinShape Centre Foundation, funded by Chick-fil-A, he operates foster homes for more than 1,600 children and has provided scholarships for more than 16,500 students. In Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More People, Cathy challenges readers to focus on people and principles. The principles he outlines in this book have brought success to his business, and he insists that anyone who follows them will surely enjoy similar results. About the Author: S. Truett Cathy is a real-life Horatio Alger story. Growing up in a boardinghouse his mother operated during the Great Depression, he learned the principles of hard work, honesty, loyalty, and respect. When he opened a small restaurant in 1946 with his brother Ben, he put those principles to work and immediately began to experience rewards. Over two decades later, Cathy opened his first Chick-fil-A restaurant, which was unique in America in two ways: it served the first boneless breast chicken sandwich, and it was the first fast-food restaurant to operate in a shopping mall. Today, the more than 1,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants boast than $3 billion in sales annually while adhering to a policy previously unknown in the fast-food business: Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays. Along with his wife, Jeanette, Cathy is also the founder of the WinShape Centre Foundation, which offers college scholarships, summer camps for children, a marriage retreat center, and homes for more than 130 foster children. The Cathys live in the Atlanta area. "About this title" may belong to another edition of this title. N° de ref. de la librería 0000792

Sinopsis:

Truett Cathy is a real-life Horatio Alger story. He grew up in a boarding house his mother operated, where he learned the principles of hard work, fairness, honesty, loyalty, and respect. When he opened a small restaurant in 1946 with his brother Ben, he put those principles to work and immediately began to experience their rewards.

Twenty-one years later Truett Cathy opened the first Chick-fil-A restaurant, which was unique in America in two ways: it served the first boneless breast chicken sandwich, and it was the first fast-food restaurant to operate in a shopping mall. Today there are more than 1,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants with more than $1 billion in sales annually.

Truett Cathy has achieved his success while living the life of a servant leader. From the age of eight, when he iced down the Cokes he was selling at his front-yard drink stand and saw the resulting growth in sales, he has sought ways to please customers. That attitude is evident today at each Chick-fil-A restaurant, where Operators and team members have been inspired by the founder's commitment to others.

Truett Cathy's commitment reaches far beyond the people who work and eat in his restaurants. Through the WinShape Centre Foundation, funded by Chick-fil-A, he operates foster homes for more than 120 children, sponsors a summer camp for more than 1,600 children, and has provided college scholarships for more than 15,000 students.

In Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More People, Truett Cathy challenges readers to focus on people and principles. Then good success will surely follow.

About the Author:

Armed with a keen business sense, a work ethic forged during the Depression, and a personal and business philosophy based on biblical principles, Truett Cathy took a tiny Atlanta diner, originally called the Dwarf Grill, and transformed it into Chick-fil-A, the nation’s largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain with more than $5 billion in sales in 2013 and more than 1,800 locations. His tremendous business success allowed Truett to pursue other passions – most notably his interest in the development of young people.

Descripción de la librería

GAMBIT'S Collectibles Hi, my wife and I recently founded GAMBIT'S Collectibles on line business. We decided to name the business after one of our family members. We first met Gambit at an -Adopt a pet- show held by a pet store as a community services event. We were actually looking for a small dog, a lap dog if you will for her. As we looked at the puppies and older dogs we had a difficult time deciding. Gambit was sitting quietly in the corner as the other puppies yipped and barked as all the strangers coming by to look at them. I don't know if you believe in an emotional bond but there was definitely an immediate connection between Gambit and I. At first I just wanted to pick him up and take a closer look. When I did Gambit did something I will never forget. He held on to my arm with his paws wrapped around -clinging- to me. This connection created a strong bond between us. My wife tells people that I hogged the puppy and wandered off into a corner of the pet store with him so no one else could have a chance to pick him. I have to admit it is true. However, because we came for a different breed of dog we decided to wait until more dogs were brought to the event. So we went to lunch with plans to come back in an hour or so. I told myself that the puppy I liked so much would be long gone by then. Someone would pick him for sure. Who could resist? So with some trepidation I left it up to fate. Well, we ate our lunch and came back to the event in time to see the new dogs arriving at the pet store. We looked them over and considered a couple but I could not get Gambit out of my mind. So, I went to see if he was still in the pen they had for the puppies. Amazingly he was still there. I picked him up and we have been faithful friends every since. Our family loves Gambit and I am thankful for his unconditional love for our family every day. So, when we decided to create an on line business we needed a CEO and Gambit was elected. His bark is worse than his bite! Some of the proceeds from our sales will go the local animal shelter here in Colorado to give others a chance to adopt a pet and maybe they will be as lucky as we were. We are proud contributors to the local Humane Society and the business makes monthly contributions via the PAWS system.
