All illust. present. Some foxing throughout the set. Possibly the finest single eclectic history of New York State ever compiled covering the colonial period: 1600's to the early 1800's. Documentary sources are presented in the four vols.: relations w/ New York Indian tribes; Jesuit missionary activities; the Dutch settlement & Indian wars; French & British military campaigns; the Palatines; Sir William Johnson; The Iroquois; the New Hampshire Grants controversy; NewYork City; Livingston Manor; etc., etc. The editor, was an Irish revolutionary and M.D., who fled Canada in 1837 to New York and became the New York State archivist. With an additional illustration not called for: Aurora, NY. from the North Poplars. Plan of Fort Stanwix printed blank due to printer error and supplied here in facsimile.
