Kathryn communicates the truly thrilling concepts of healing through detoxification – one of the most powerful means to recover one’s own health. The information in this book is the best to date; it covers how and why the diet works, how to make sense of your case, how to apply the program to your individual case, how to work with the laws of healing, how to bring the body to a natural healing and how to manage healing reactions. This book also has menu plans and many recipes. This self-help book is applicable for all age groups - young and old alike - who wish to either maintain the health they have or reverse chronic illness. The book not only tells you how and why the diet works but also gives the practical know how of how to apply the program for your individual case, gives tips on menu planning and shopping, and comes with over 80 delicious recipes. Most importantly, it is “family friendly” so your whole family can enjoy the benefits of the diet. In the writing of this text Kathryn has drawn from her 20 years experience in both treating patients and teaching health professionals. Most importantly, through her work as a Gerson Therapist, she has experienced the fundamental role of specific dietary protocols in the healing of chronic disease and she has witnessed at first hand the powerful laws of healing during the recovery of patients from chronic disease. When the body heals, it heals everything Genuine healing programs always involve detoxification. The symptoms of disease invariably arise as an adaptation to toxic conditions within the body and all too often we end up treating the symptoms of pollution rather than resolving the pollution itself. By restoring the environment and enabling the cells to replenish with nutrients and oxygen we provide the conditions for healing to occur. This current edition covers a range of health issues, including fertility and hormonal imbalances, arthritis, osteoporosis, autoimmune disorders, allergies, chronic fatigue, insulin resistance and diabetes, heart disease, cancer, depression and ADHD, explains their underlying causes and shows you how you can tailor your own detoxification program to remove the toxic burden, restore vitality and allow the healing to begin. All you need to know to embark on a detox program: Practical ways to self-manage your healing Understand your condition like a professional Scientific and evidence-based Nutritionally balanced recipes and menu plansAbout the Author:
Kathryn Alexander D.Th.D., Adv. Dip. Naturopathy, Gerson Therapist Kathryn is an internationally acknowledged expert in the field of detoxification and dietary healing, holding twenty years experience since qualifying as a dietary therapist in 1987, having studied under Dr. Lawrence Plaskett at the College of Dietary Therapy, London. Through her work with patients choosing the Gerson Therapy she has witnessed at first hand the fundamental role of specific dietary protocols in the healing of chronic disease. Over the last twenty years Kathryn has lectured widely in the UK, USA and Australia, developed training packages for both professionals and members of the public, and is the author of Get a Life, the Detoxification Diet Made Easy! - the forerunner to this revised edition. In 1999 Kathryn joined the board of directors of the Gerson Institute with responsibilities for research and development and practitioner training. She developed the training curriculum for the Gerson Therapy (R) and produced Nutritional Healing: a Patient Management Handbook, described by Charlotte Gerson as “the ‘bible’ of the nutritional healer of the future.” Kathryn is also a recognised thought leader in the growing trend of the expert patient, where governments around the world are setting the trend toward the patient self-managing their chronic condition. As a consequence, a consumer-centric model of healthcare is now evolving in which patients seek to form partner-relationships with their primary health-care workers. This assists them in best practice management strategies that more closely reflect their own criteria for a best clinical outcome. Invariably strategies involve the combining of complementary and medical treatments, and medical professionals are increasingly required to have a working awareness of complementary protocols in treatment. Kathryn is now based in Australia where her self-management courses have been well received by both professional and public sectors, with positive feedback from participants who are now equipped to either self-manage their own healing program and make informed decisions in treatment, or to case-manage those of their patients. www.kathrynalexander.com.au
