Near Fine Royal Blue cloth-covered boards with clear gilt titling/decoration to the spine. A blind-stamped crest on the front board. There are a few spots on the spine but I only noticed these when the camera flash 'paled' the blue colour, from dark Royal blue to a turquoise blue as seen in the image, these spots are hardly seen in normal light. No dustjacket. The Life and times of this vibrant Mexican artist who in recent times has been eclipsed by his young wife Frieda Kahlo. Now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover. A former owner's name written on the front pastedown and underneath this is a cutting (possibly from the original dustjacket) stuck to pastedown/inner endpaper by old yellowing sellotape, detailing the life of Bertram Wolfe - the Author. No other Inscriptions or Marks. Full colour frontispiece. (xxxi) + (1) + 420 pp + 14 page Index. Illustrated with 160 sepia illustrations - many by important photographers and many full page, plus 9 'cuts'. Introduction; Notes on Illustrations; List of paintings on Public view; Partial Bibliography; Index. The inner paper hinges are sound but browning. The page-edges and the paper are lightly toned with age, but it's quality paper and the toning is uniform - all negligible. Overall an Excellent Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. A detailed study by Wolfe, and the third of a trilogy on Rivera, who was a friend of Wolfe's from 1922 until Rivera's death.
