Descripción

2 volumes. Full calf, with black leather labels. Front hinge of volume 2 is cracked and loose. Hinges on volume 1 loose. Foxing more extensive in volume 1. A very nice set of the first American edition of this reference work. Grieb was a Christian Socialist who inspired the utopian thinker Charles Fourier. In Paris of the '30s - in the crucible of new, even utopian ideas; between thousands of political refugees - was enthusiastic about the ideas of early Grieb socialist Charles Fourier. While in London, Grieb developed a new German-English dictionary, because he knew that English would be the language of the future. He attached special importance to including scientific terms and technical developments in 19th Century Europe. Due to the size/weight of this offer extra charges to apply for international shipping.
