Now well known for his controversial books, David Irving, revealed for the first time the ghastly errors of judgement that led to the wholesale destruction of Convoy PQ17 after it was dispersed on Admiralty orders on the mistaken belief that it was about to be attacked by major German surface units. Fewer that 7000 copies of the first edition were sold before the publishers withdrew the book as a result of libel proceedings regarding it. 337 pages including two appendices, source notes, index, 60 b/w photos, seven maps/disgrams, three document reproductions. Blue hard covers VG with slight, unobtrusive mottle, light wear corners, spine extremities, silver spine titles bright and clear, dealer stamp lower right front pastedown with shadow image opposite on FFEP with ink name/address at top.
