Sinopsis:

Delusions of Grandeur is a tale that revolves around a young boy named Billy who is by all accounts less than ordinary, but there is much more beneath the surface. Billy has a terrible life, through and through. He deals with all sorts of awful things, ranging from bullies to death and he isn’t equipped to handle any of it. Being the child that he is, who buries himself in the fantasy of his books, he turns to fantasies of his own to help him cope with his situations. Billy creates an alter ego inside his mind named William, an adult, who is essentially everything that he wishes he was. In the alternate reality that exists within the realm of Billy’s mind, William faces much greater challenges that mirror the threats that Billy faces in his all too real life. Though the worlds may be vastly different, the themes remain connected. William says and does the things that, deep inside Billy’s subconscious, he knows would be the right actions to choose if he weren’t so frightened to do them on his own. Seeing his hero act this way, Billy follows through and does the same, following William’s lead to handle his issues. William’s personality changes with each different problem. As the threats change, so do William’s roles, and they are all based upon the heroes and role models that exist within the books that Billy reads. William becomes a cowboy, a knight, a detective, a monster hunter, and a super hero, all to lead Billy in the direction that he needs to go. Following the lead of his hero, Billy often thinks that he’s doing the right things, but as his problems continue to become worse he realizes that instead of William being the solution to his issues, he may be the cause of more. After things get worse and worse and Billy’s already horrible life spins even further out of control, the boy is forced to take a look at his self and ask the tough question, “Am I a hero or a villain?”
