It grabbed her neck tight, slowly suffocating her as she gulped for air. [A Deathly Presence] A child's voice whispered to me, “Help me escape this tomb.” [A Good Night's Sleep] Deep red marks of ligature-or branch strangulation-adorned their necks. [A Kind Deed] When Heather's bloody head rolled across the table, Alan was ecstatic. “Great side effects, John.” [A Prized Footage] We screamed as we saw huge pale hands, fifty feet in diameter, holding the outer rails of the machine. [Roller Coaster Ride] Mary floated above the witness stand, blood dripping from her body. [A Ghostly Presence] I was frozen by the sight of my torso, which now had the appearance of the body of a large snake. [The Dravodians] We stared in horror at the ceiling as the creature's gigantic head peered down at us with blood dripping from his fangs. [An Eerie Virus] “Finish him off. The night is young. We've more hunting to do.” [City Slick] I was desperate to plunge a dagger into my heart to escape the monstrosity I'd become. [Devil's Curse] There were faint screaming sounds coming from the floors above! [Graduation Ceremony] News just came in of attacks on humans by all kinds of wild animals outside the Kwambi reserve. [My Dear Pet] There was no one there-just a deep-brown stain like dried-up muddy water on the bed! [Screams of the River] The handle of the luggage was sticky with red stains. [Screaming Infidelity] Blood dripped from the suit. [The Suit] A skull was dangling from the uppermost branch . . . [The Wineglass]About the Author:
Raj Napal was born in Port Louis, Mauritius. He immigrated to Britain with his parents and siblings when he was eight years old. He was brought up in Cardiff in South Wales. Poetry was instilled in him while he lived in Wales. He obtained a law degree at Leeds University in Yorkshire and was a criminal defense barrister in London in the '80s and '90s. In 1995, he came to Ontario, Canada, with his then spouse, where he continued to practice law. In 2010, he commenced writing, but at that time, it was mostly poetry. In the last two years, his imagination took him into the strange world and genre of the supernatural, horror, and terror. He finds short stories particularly fascinating, and Dancing with Terror is part of a collection of stories in that intriguing genre. Most of them were written in the last two years. He continues to write poetry and his selection of poems in this book, he hopes, will catch the readers' attention as they embrace and enhance the themes in the tales. He has also ventured into the field of crime-thriller serializations, which he's still working on. One day, he'll complete them. He is divorced and has two children, Joshua and Helena. He hopes readers will find this collection of fifty short stories and the selection of poems enjoyable. If they do, he intends to publish a second part to Dancing with Terror.
