VERY SCARCE. Lacks the dustjacket. Previous owner's name to FFEP. Mild faint soiling spots to boards, some light little scratches. Corners lightly bumped and rubbed, end caps rather rubbed and chipped away with an inch closed tear and some fraying to upper spine end cap. Light sunning to spine, pages a bit age-tanned. Front hinge started at page 9, a bit of discoloration to front and rear gutters. Black lettering to spine and front board, brick red cloth-covered boards. Clean, unmarked text (except pencilled note to RFEP). 183 pp with bibliography. Introduction by Fletcher Henderson. Contents: Chapter 1 -- Milestones: A miniature history of swing touching upon the highlights and tracing the influence of organized musical groups rather than individulas; Chapter 2 -- Little Sessions in Swing: A few brief comments on the musical aspects of hot jazz; Chapter 3 -- Biographies of the Men of Jazz: Listed alphabetically by name, with a few representative solos played by each insturmentalist; Chapter 4 -- A Representative Record Library: Alphabetically by tune titles, with complete personnels for each recording (whenever possible); Chapter 5 -- Valuation of Collectors' Records: Listed alphabetically according to names of orchestras; Chapter 6 --Vocabulary of Swing Terms: Listed alphabetically, example: " 'hep-cat' (1) a swing devotee who is "hep" or alert to the most authoritative information.
