Título: DACCA. A Group Photograph Beneath a ...
Editorial: Unknown Photographer, Dacca Dhaka
Edición: 1st Edition
Dacca [now Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh]. A very unusual and early photograph showing a large group of dignitaries sitting beneath a ceremonial arch. The photograph is 10.5 x 8ins [27 x 20cm] and in sound condition. It has been folded with one horizontal and four faint folds. The lettering of the arch is only partly partly visible but there is enough to show that it is Dacca and the date is 1864. On 1st August 1864 Dacca was established as a Municipal Corporation and the photograph surely marks that occasion. Most of the dignitaries, both Indian and British, wear a star which may well be one struck to commemorate this important event in what was then Eastern Bengal. Two of the figures in uniform wear Mutiny Medals. Size: 11 x 8ins. N° de ref. de la librería 007773
