The book is a brief resume of entertainments at court from the time of Henry VIII down to performances at Christmas in Windsor Castle in 1848-9. There are steel engravings by Finden after designs by a variety of artists, and five facsimiles highlighted in gold and blue of the programmes for the five entertainments mounted for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The binding is maroon pebble grained full morocco, very elaborately blocked in a large gilt frame, repeated on the lower cover, and with a spine gilt dec in compartments. There are inner gilt dentelles, and all edges are gilt. On the front pastedown and the verso of the title page are neat rubber stamps for the Greatorex theatre collection. The upper hinge is tender at the title page, but generally an excellent copy of this lavishly produced and very uncommon theatre item. N° de ref. de la librería 24160
