March 1923 single issue of magazine, profusely illustrated in color and black and white, 146pp including many pp of ads, 14 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches, color pictorial paper wrappers as issued. Discreet one line library stamp to front cover, lower 3 1/2 inches of spine missing, text loose in covers, small edge tears to front cover, vertical crease two inches from spine extending from top to bottom of magazine’s first 35 to 40 pp; contents in very good condition, triangular paper loss to one advertising page. Articles include "Some Lessons to be Learned from a Long Island Garden" with color illustrations by Amy Cross; "The Magic of Water in the Garden"; "The Placing of Garden Sculpture"; "An Architects Home in the Foothills of the Sierra Madres" (Fitch H. Haskell); "The Intimate Garden of Miss Elsie De Wolfe at Villa Trianon at Versailles France"; "Craigellachie, the Residence of John W. Grant at Atlanta"; "The Porch and the Terrace"; "Closed Cars for the Man Who Drives His Own" (photographic illustrations). Considerable period advertising in color and black and white including, at the front of the magazine, advertising focusing on real estate, dogs, cows and chickens. This section includes a 4pp illustrated advertisement for Rockwood Hall on the Hudson (the home of late William Rockefeller). Automotive advertising includes Packard, Reo and Studebaker.
