Vol. 1 (Index, etc.); 196 pp. & 12 plates, Explanation of plates, "Avis au relieur", "Table de Concordance", "Table." & Errata leaf. Vol. 2-6; unnumbered pages of text & plates. 300 of which are chromolithographs, heightened in gold and silver highlights or details, and 200 "camaieu" (black on tan, gray or white backgrounds or details). 3/4 crushed dark blue levant (morocco) leather spines, sides & corners & blue cloth by The Rose Bindery, Boston (with their stamp). 5 raised bands; simple arabesque design of gilt leaves & flowers in compartments, lines & circles on bands, spines, double lines on ends of corners, sides. Blue marbled paper endpapers; top edge gilt. Slight fading to spines; some edges show shelf wear, rubbing or minor wear to corners of Vol. 1, 4. Spine edges (outer front hinge) shows some abrasion on vol. 4; other generally minimal signs of fading or wear to sides, corners, edges. Text & plates in fine condition. Bindings overall are close to near fine for this heavy set. (Weight: 70 lbs.). Few sets of the "Grande Edition"; a large paper folio size luxury set are to be found outside of institutional libraries.
