8vo 8" - 9" tall; 115 pages; Handsomely and professionally recased with yellow cloth backstrip lettered in gilt and buff, laid, yellow paper covered boards. Contents bright and neat. Two or three instances of a Western Reserve (Cleveland) library blind stamp to the front matter. Color lithograph frontis had been brittle in the gutter but has had the frontis and half title backed with laid, archival paper stock. Now solid and attractive. Includes an account of the placement and erection of the memorial as well as a detailed historical sketch - by Snowden - of the Six Nations chief. His correspondence with Washington and several other notables is reproduced in an appendix at the rear of the book. A few scattered pages with a short closed tear to front margin. Some minimal archival paper additions to corners of the first few pages. Overall a nicely restored example. About VG. N° de ref. de la librería

Descripción Singerly & Myers, Harrisburg, PA, 1867. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. No Jacket. First edition. 115pp. Brown leather spine with speckled paper covered boards. The corners are rubbed and the boards exposed. Gilt stamped title on the spine. Samuel Johnson in his introductory remarks stated the Cornplanter " "Immediately upon the close of the Revolutionary war he became the fast friend of the white man and the government. Satisfied that his nation had been fraudulently decoyed into alliance with the British during the war, and basely betrayed by their allies at its close, he hastened to repair the wrong, by giving all his influence and energies to the inauguration of a peace between the United States and the Six Nations, of which he was then a distinguished Chief." Overall a very good copy. Laid in are two black ad white photographs taken of the memorial in 1966. See Howes S744 and also Field's p.378. Nº de ref. de la librería HB00863

First edition. 115pp. Octavo [22 cm] 3/4 brown leather with speckled paper covered boards, raised bands, and a gilt stamped title on the spine. Very good. The covers are heavily rubbed. The endsheets are darkened along the edges. The front pastedown has a contemporary owner's name and brief notation. The title page also has a contemporary owner's name in small pen. With a map at the front. It is stated in the introductory remarks, with regards to Cornplanter, "Immediately upon the close of the Revolutionary war he became the fast friend of the white man and the government.
