"Notice of the various canals, railroads, and internal improvements; with a brief and comprehensive description of the lakes, rivers, bays, harbors, mountains, counties, cities, towns and villages together with all the post offices in the United States. " Chapin spent three years prepaing a large ornamental wall map of the United States as well as this book which was intended to be a companion to the map. The author makes clear, however, that the "map and the book are not necessarily connected--each being complete in itself. " Original blind stamped publisher's cloth covers, gilt spine lettering, a bit of scattered light foxing to contents, top edge of spine chipped, portion of old sticker on spine, bottom tips have some shelfwear.
