Sinopsis: Common Sense Wisdom is a little book with a big message about life and the important transitions, challenges and changes planned or unplanned that we all must face from time to time. It s at moments like these that some common sense wisdom can help us understand what is happening or should happen, why it s happening or why it should, how we should respond to it or initiate it, and how we can best apply the insights and lessons from those who have been there and done that to our own lives.
Drawing upon his own life experiences and more than 30 years as an advisor and coach to executives, government officials, and people from all walks of life from Asia, to Europe, and the United States, Pepper shares the insights from these people in a way that will cause you to think about your life and career as never before.
Common Sense Wisdom blends, in a unique way, quotes from ancient philosophers to modern-day business executives, sports figures and thought leaders from Buddha to Baltasar Gracian and Goethe, to Winston Churchill, Mary Pickford, Oscar Wilde, Wayne Gretzky and Margaret Thatcher to Walt Disney and Vaclav Havel and applies them to life in the 21st century, a time when act or be acted upon takes on a whole new meaning about one s life.
The goal of Common Sense Wisdom is to give readers the tools, understanding, and motivation to become their own career or life coaches and to lead themselves, and those around them, through life s challenges, setbacks, and successes. Common Sense Wisdom offers critical insights into life that will help people find their own true north as they chart the course for their own journeys.
About the Author:
Born and raised in the farm country of Central Indiana, Pepper became interested in leadership, human potential, and common sense at age seven as a result of regularly organizing sales training materials for his mother who was a regional sales director.
Struggling with his first major life transition the divorce of his parents Pepper dropped out of high school and became a barber.
In one of what would be many life-changing, crossroad events, his former high school principal convinced him to complete his high school and university education. Then, he started, built and later sold a regional insurance brokerage business in Tucson, AZ, and entered another life transition as President and Publisher of Monterey Life Magazine in Monterey, CA. Later, after selling his interest in the magazine, he was recruited to Korn Ferry International, the world s largest executive search firm at that time, as a consultant. Subsequently, he was recruited to Spencer Stuart, another global executive search firm where he was a partner. In his final role in the U.S., Pepper was recruited to Heidrick and Struggles, the most respected executive search firm in the world at that time, according to The Wall Street Journal, as a partner to help build the firm s presence in Southern California.
Five years later, not one to shy away from crossroads in his own life, Pepper elected early retirement and with his wife, Priscilla, moved to the French countryside, then to Tuscany looking for a place to begin another major life change living in Europe. Today, they live in the ancient Central European capital of Prague where Pepper admittedly failed miserably at retirement. He is Chairman of one of Central Europe s premier executive search firms, Bubenik Partners. In addition, he founded The Prague Leadership Institute and serves as an advisor to the former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel s foundation, Forum 2000.
