Acerca de

Sinopsis:

Uses colors to focus on the history, culture, and physical surroundings of the Navajo Indians

From School Library Journal:

Grade 2-4-A brief book that gives information on many elements of Navajo life. Ten colors are tied to topics and introduce interesting facts about the land, traditions, arts, and way of life on the reservation. Historical and modern aspects are clearly differentiated, even on the occasions when they are interwoven to show continuity. Horrific events such as "The Long Walk" are balanced by proud and honorable actions, such as those of the World War II code-talkers. Each page of text is paired with a childlike painting done in vivid colors. In some cases, the bright illustrations overlap or surround the simple and straightforward text, while in others the two are separate. In every case, the artwork and text combine to create an appealing whole. Pronunciations for Navajo words are given as they appear. An excellent choice for younger readers.
