Descripción

Very good first printing in very good dustwrapper. The book itself is square and tight but there is some gentle age toning to edges of the text block and more discolouration to the top edge. The dustwrapper is complete but with browning to the flaps. Signed and located by the author to the title page, without inscription: 'Ian McEwan Hay on Wye.' Please enquire for more details. As a keen collector myself I make every effort to provide a high level of service. Enquiries welcomed. N° de ref. de la librería 005780

Acerca de

Sinopsis:

A novel in which a young couple have their child snatched from them and are subsequently driven apart by despair. From the author of THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS, THE CEMENT GARDEN and THE DAYDREAMER.

Críticas:

The Child in Time opens with a harrowing event. Stephen Lewis, a successful author of children's books, takes his 3-year-old daughter on a routine Saturday morning trip to the supermarket. While waiting in line, his attention is distracted and his daughter is kidnapped. Just like that. From there, Lewis spirals into bereavement that has effects on his relationship with his wife, his psyche and time itself: "It was a wonder there could be so much movement, so much purpose, all the time. He himself had none." This beautifully haunting book won a 1987 Whitbread Prize.
