Six months of the magazine bound together by Ward Bros. bindery. Each issue of The Century Magazine includes non-fiction articles and fictional stories, often by well-known authors, as well as dozens of illustrations, photos, poems, and letters. This volume includes an article about the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, one entitled 'How Cervantes Looked' (with illustration), several articles about Abraham Lincoln, articles or stories by Booker T. Washington ('Is the Negro Having a Fair Chance?'), G. K. Chesterton ('On Divorce in War and Wedlock'), Harte, Bret ('A Monte Flat Pastoral', with illustration by N. C. Wyeth), and with color reproduction of painting by Arthur Rackham and wood engravings of art masterpieces by Jean François Millet .These, and many other articles, poems and illustrations, make this a fascinating glimpse at reading matter for educated people in the early 20th century. The Century Magazine was the successor publication to Scribner's Monthly and was edited by Dr. Josiah Gilbert Holland and Richard Watson Gilder. --- In black cloth-covered boards with 6-page table of contents inserted before first month.
