Descripción E.P. Dutton & Co. / Hutchinson & Co., New York / London., 1963. Hard cover. Hoot V.Z. (Jacket design by). Ilustrador. Orange cloth over boards. Brown spine titles. Yellow illustrated jacket: soldiers in B&W. 352p., 22 cm. Complete in itself, this historical fiction volume does have some of the same characters introduced in The Centurions, about emerging revolutionary fighters for France in Viet Nam during the 1950s, who then took what they learned in defeat from the Vietminh, and took those guerilla skills to the Algerian fight for Independence from colonial France. Originally published as "Les Praetoriens", Presses de la Cite 1961, The Praetorians carries the Algerian story further, culminating in the return to power of Charles de Gaulle, May 13, 1958. Both volumes were best-sellers in France and continue to be read in studying modern terrorists tactics. Good in very good dust jacket. Signed by previous owner. Volume has spine tilt. Top page block spill stain. Minor soiling to jacket. Light jacket edge wear. Slight jacket spine sun fade. First edition. Stated 1st. Dutton edition. 1st U.S. printing.
