"Writing a history of a local community , or any kind of history for that matter, is a learning process. The very process of research, interview and investigation of course brings that out. Doors are opened leading to additional information, facts, sources and insights. One of the things learned-perhaps realized is the more appropriate word-was that the history of a central settlement such as New Brighton encompasses a much larger area at the beginning of the work and then shrinks with time as other local towns emerge from parts of the original township territories and mail areas that the early town settled and served. Such is the case with New Brighton, although a Mounds View or Lake Johanna or for some even a more distant Turtle Lake continued long to be a part of ther earlier acknowledged New Brighton community and now are parts of other towns with their own boundaries, independence and autonomy. Another realization evidenced is that the more history that is wrtten, the more remains to be written. Most difficlut to select is the history of later years where there is so much to be set down. What is history and what are merely, and perhaps incidental, events is a question that plagues, and how are they, or should they be, separated? The answer is somewhat of a paradox in its reassurance: all history is made up of events. This CENTENNIAL HISTORY OF NEW BRIGHTON, MINNESOTA, is to be emphasized, is principally that-a history. Meanwhile The History of New Brighton continues, and it is for later chroniclers to enlarge rthis effort." This book has 293 pages and is profusely illustrated. The book is a SIGNED copy from the author, Gene Skiba. Overall, a FINE copy of this SCARCE title. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. N° de ref. de la librería 060846
