Margaret Warner Morley was an educator, biologist, author, and a suffragette. She lived in Tryon, North Carolina where she studied, sketched and photographed the rural wilderness of the state. Of this book, the New York Times printed, in November 1913, "The text is historical, descriptive, and anecdotal, and has the compelling charm of utter familiarity. No possible beauty of the Blue Ridge or Smoky Montains is omitted." [Literary Digest November 1913] There are 25 illustrations in this book and a four-leaf clover on page 150. The spine is a little faded but the front cover bright. Very minor wear to extremities. Tight binding, very good boards and pages. First editions are very scarce.
