Joint/spine edge bit worn, board corners little rubbed and bumped, spine tips rubbed slightly, interior clean and unmarked, paper a little creamy, title page red and black, some pages at back have bottom corner bumped and creased, otherwise good. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 704 pages. With advertisements to the pastedowns. Illustrated with five coloured plates of insignia. Containing abbreviations, preface, historical introduction, statutes, obituary, biographies, and lists of precedence. Condition: In a red cloth binding with armorial gilt decoration to front board. Externally, sound, though with some bumping and rubbing, and dampstaining to the rear board. Sunning to the spine also. Hinges are tender, with cords visible. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in place. Front endpapers are missing, due to joint. Pages are bright, and quite clean, though with some scattered instances of foxing. Very good condition with only very minor signs of external wear. Includes entries listed in two parts. The first is the complete alphabetical order under the heading 'Biography' - some 26,000 names. In this section as many biographical details are given as it was possible to obtain at the time of publication. The second part provides the same full list of but by class and in order of precedence within each class. Each entry is preceded by a number which gives a cross-reference to the biographical list.
