Unpaginated. Collates A-Cc8. At the foot of the title page it states Small pica 16mo. The Psalms has a separate title page and register A-D8, E6. The Common Prayer is interleaved throughout and extra illustrated with 50 photographic reproductions of religious paintings. Page size 159x105mm. Ornate embossed papiere mache binding with both boards decorated with a figure of the standing Christ within a cusped window frame which is pierced and backed with dark red fabric. The black calf spine is neatly rebacked with the original spine and label re-laid. All edges gilt and heavily gauffred. A very good copy, with only minor damage to the binding and some edges dusty due to cockling of the interleaves where images have been inserted. Thomas Barritt 1801-1863, was apprenticed to a London goldsmith and learned engraving and die sinking. He first produced dies for Remnant to emboss morocco Bible covers, before buying a press and started to produce embossed covers for other binders from premises in St. James's Walk, Clerkenwell. He moved his expanding business to Fleet Street and in 1839 took from Longman a share of the agency for the Queen's Printers' Bibles. N° de ref. de la librería 6946
