Joseph Blagrave (1610 – 1682) published a number of almanacs in the years 1658 – 1665 and practised as a physician. He was a friend of Elias Ashmole to whom he dedicated the first edition of his Astrological Physick in 1671. 'His chief interest lies in his ambiguous status as a leading representative of the long tradition of astrological medicine, at just the time when that tradition was rapidly becoming unacceptable among people of the increasingly powerful 'respectable' sort.' ODNB. Accompanying this volume is a disbound late eighteenth century notebook which contains twenty two leaves of nativity diagrams, an early nineteenth century letter and some modern notes relating to the Malkin family who lived at 59 High Street, Winchester. Members of the family obviously used Blagrave's book to cast nativities over a period of years. N° de ref. de la librería 4732
