First Edition. Decorated bright olive cloth and decorated endpapers in attractive dust jacket. B&W decorations in text. xxv, 210 pp. 8vo. Near Fine. Boards are unmarked and bear slight shelfwear. The interior is in Fine condition: the pages are very clean and the binding is very tight; crisp, almost as if new. Previous owner inscriptions penned on pastedown and opposite flyleaf. DJ is Fair Plus with some small chips and repaired tears, yet mostly intact over the boards, and is now mylar protected. Robert Emmet Kennedy (1877 - 1941) was a New Orleans born author, Irish-American poet, folklorist, preservationist, interpreter of early African-American dialect, and book reviewer for The New York Times; a man of music concert pianist, singer, composer, recorder and preservationist of "Negro spirituals"; a man of drama actor and recitalist; a man of art; accomplished painter for self and friends; a man of business accountant and antique dealer in New York. Edward Larocque Tinker (1881-1968) was an American writer and philanthropist who developed a deep interest in the culture of Latin America and spent much of his life exploring it. Tinker was the grandson of prominent New York attorney Joseph Larocque. He achieve d Ph.D.s in literature from the University of Paris and the University of Madrid. Size: 8vo - (Standard Book Size).
