NO DATE shown but COPAC and other sources give it as 1882. Khaki, black illustrated/printed Pictorial Boards heightened with silver and gold, with gilt blocking/titling to the spine. A tiny pin hole just under the word 'Illustrated' on the spine (which is hardly noticable - I only saw it when cleaning the book. Some marks, a small faded patch just at the rear head of the spine, with some rubbing to the edges and corners, with the usual light 'bumping' to the top and bottom of the spine - but overall very attractive and bright, clean covers. The book had obviously been protected with a brown paper cover at some point in the past, keeping the colours bright, as there are pieces of the old brown paper still attached to the front and rear pastedowns inside the book. Page fore-edges browned and dust ingrained. Some light browning and offsetting to the endpapers, and some small loss to the top and bottom edges of the front free endpapers, but the rest of the book, apart from a few marks/thumbing, has NO inscriptions and is generally very clean, bright and tight. Overall VG Minus, but a generally Very Clean, Tight and Bright, copy of this scarce book. The translation edited by CHARLOTTE M. YONGE. 174 pp with an 18 page Warne book catalogue at the end of the book. A full page, tissue guarded, b/w frontispiece and one other full page b/w illustration in the book, with attractive b/w decorated initial letters and some b/w head and tail pieces to the chapters. Originally published earlier in the Century in French. Quite Scarce in this Original form, with most attractive Victorian Pictorial boards. See Images. ; Incident and Adventure Library; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall. N° de ref. de la librería 113783
